How It Works
The career switch calculator projects cumulative earnings for both your current career and a potential new career path over your chosen time horizon.
It applies annual growth rates to simulate salary progression in each career. The transition cost (relocation, education, certifications, etc.) is deducted from the new career's total to give a net comparison.
The break-even year shows when the new career's cumulative earnings surpass the current career's, accounting for the initial pay cut and transition costs. Growth rates are the most critical factor β a lower starting salary with higher growth can quickly outpace a higher starting salary with slower growth.
